Nimbostratus
Nimbostratus cloud
(often misspelled nimbustratus)
consists of a thick low layer of cloud, usually blocking the sun completely. However, there are textures to the cloud, it is not just one shade. when seen after higher clouds, this can signal a cold front approaching.
